The Continuo Arts Childrens Chorus

For Ages 6-13
This innovative ensemble brings the joy of choral music and performance to young singers. Through a wide selection of vocal repertoire and group training, members will learn the basic applications of vocal production with a strong emphasis on breath support, articulation, tone production, sight singing and ear training. Children's Chorus members will also engage in community concert performances and activities that encourage self-confidence, team work, poise and positive stage presence.

Seniors Sing!

For the Young-at-Heart, this chorus for senior citizens is presented in collaboration with the Summit Community Programs and sponsored in part by the Summit Area Public Foundation, Manley-Winser Foundation, Overlook Medical Center and the H.E.A.R.T. Grant.

The Singers!

For Young Ladies, ages 13-18
This exciting group of young choral artists serves as musical ambassadors locally and around the world. From Renaissance madrigals to vocal jazz, singers learn proper breathing techniques, tone production, articulation, stylization and presentation. Ensemble and sectional rehearsals assist singers in all aspects of vocal pedagogy as well as develop leadership and interpersonal skills in a positive and stimulating atmosphere. Members engage in community performances and join with other singers from around the world as part of the Continuo Arts Symphonic Chorus.

The Continuo Arts Civic Chorale

For Adult Singers
For adult singers who love to perform, this ensemble delves into choral music throughout the ages. From standard choral masterpieces to opera choruses, from Gregorian Chant to 21st Century Composers, group members engage in exciting and educational rehearsals, sectionals and vocal workshops. Extensive work on breath support, vocal production, stage presence, musical interpretation and textual content will take place. The Civic Chorale performs in community concerts and joins with other singers from around the world as part of the Continuo Arts Symphonic Chorus.

Conducting Fellows

The Continuo Arts Foundation’s Conducting Fellow program launched in the Fall of 2011. Designed to enrich the education, experience and hands-on practicum for young conductors, conducting fellows involvement includes:

  • Preparing and executing warm-ups for each ensemble
  • Preparing and rehearsing ensembles
  • Running sectionals
  • Conducting rehearsals
  • Performing with Civic Chorale
  • Podium time during our annual concerts
  • Hands-on organizational and implementation duties

Ideally, candidates will be working on an advanced degree in choral conducting. This is an unpaid fellowship that will provide a stellar reference as well as rehearsal experience, performance, organizational, and podium opportunities. Candidates interested for the 2012-2103 season should send their resume and cover letter to: jocelyn@continuoarts.org

Resume:

Stephanie Harris is the Continuo Arts Conducting Fellow for Seniors Sing! and received her B.A. in Church Music with a Classical Guitar concentration and Theology minor from Eastern University in Pennsylvania, and is currently pursuing the Master of Church Music in Choral Conducting degree from Concordia University. Stephanie directs two Handbell Choirs at Middlebush Reformed Church and takes   private organ lessons at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton.
